Erfassungsbereich von 0 bis

leriert hohe Torschließge-
schwindigkeiten bis 1,6 m/s.
Es ermöglicht je nachVariante
einen abgesicherten Bereich
zwischen 987 und 2500 Mil-

ßerhalb des zu überwachen-

bei Bedarf über die Torsteue-

jedenTortyp einsetzbar.
Über 15 Jahre Erfahrung
Die außerordentliche Leis-
tungsfähigkeit des TST LGB
ist ein Beleg dafür, dass Feig
Electronic auf fast 15 Jah-
re Erfahrung bei der Ent-
wicklung und Produktion
von Lichtgittern zurückbli-
cken kann. So war das Unter-
nehmen viele Jahre lang ex-
klusiver Lieferant für einen
der Premiumhersteller von
Schnelllauftoren. Die Erfah-
rungen aus diesen kunden-
spezifischen Entwicklungen
sind in das Produkt TST LGB
eingeflossen, das nun als
Standardprodukt am Markt
frei verfügbar ist und im Fe-
bruar 2015 auf der R+T erst-
mals öffentlich präsentiert
wird.

Feig Electronic GmbH, a lead-
ing provider of gate and bar-
rier controls which operates
worldwide, has expanded its
product portfolio for innova-
tive gate management with a
new, intelligent light grid for
industrial gates.
With over 15 years of experi-
ence in the construction of
light grids to secure indus-
trial gates, all versions of the
door line light grid TST LGB are
available as standard prod-
ucts and an integral part of
the Feig gate control system.
The light grid will be present-
ed at the R+T 2015 in Stuttgart
for the first time.
Certified light grids
The light grids replace all safe-
ty installations required for an
automatically operated gate.
Consequently, no other safe-
ty components are required,
such as high maintenance
safety strips or individual light
barriers.
This is made possible by the
TÜV certification as sole, con-
tactless protective installation
according to EN 12978 and
DIN CLC/TS 61496-2 on pow-
er-operated gates.
Very safe door blanking
The light grid of Feig Elec-
tronic provides all people
and objects close to the gate
equipped with it with maxi-
mum safety.
Whereas other light grids re-
alise door blanking using se-
quential or lateral light line
occupation, the company here
relies on direct connection of
its light grid to the position
detector used on the gate.
During every passage of the
gate the light grid compares
the occupation of each light
beam with the reference po-
sition of the gate leaf deter-
mined by the sensor, blanks it
and in this way ensures maxi-
mum safety.
For example, if someone’s
hand was detected by the
door leaf and conducted along
a strip, only the Feig light grid
would stop the gate, but not a
light grid with sequential line
occupation.
Moreover, this connection
with a position detector per-
mits intermediate stopping of
the gate at any time.
Maximummaterial
conservation
Another special feature of the
light grid is its ability to make
hard or soft gate stops de-
pending on the hazard situa-
tion.
To do so the TST LGB divides its
detection range into a “hazard
area” and an “object protec-
tion area.” The hazard area is
always just a few light beams
below the door leaf – if some-
one or something enters the
detection area here, the gate
stops hard and immediately.
Below this hazard area, in the
object protection area, the
gate stops by contrast softly
and accordingly conserves the
entire gate mechanism.
Additional options
The light grid is not only con-
nected directly with a posi-
tion detector, but in addition
with the Feig gate control. As
a result, the door operator has
numerous additional options.
This includes diagnosis op-
tions (e.g. status monitoring
of individual segments and
light lines), orientation and
set-up aids in installing the
light grid in the gate frame
and the ability to adjust the
particular gate circumstances
(e.g. blocking beams that are
not in the monitoring area).
Corresponding
information
or status messages appear for
this purpose on the display of
the gate control or can in ad-
dition be displayed with the
assistance of service software
on a laptop connected to the
control. This information pre-
vents incorrect operation of
the light grid during installa-
tion and start-up.
The TST LGB can be operated
with all Feig controls, controls
with reversing contactor or in-
tegrated frequency converter.
Variable deployment
The light grid TST LGB with
protection class IP67 consists
of a transmitter and receiv-
er unit and generates a light

curtain made of parallel light
beams for a detection area of
0 to 10 m. The system toler-
ates high gate closing speeds
up to 1.6 m/s. Depending on
the version, this permits a pro-
tected area between 987 and
2500 mm. Light lines lying
outside the area to be moni-
tored, can if necessary be de-
activated via the gate control.
As a result, the TST LGB can be
used for almost any gate type.
Long-time experience
The extraordinary capacity
of the TST LGB demonstrates
how Feig Electronic can look
back on almost 15 years of ex-
perience in developing and
producing light grids. For ex-
ample, the company was for
many years an exclusive sup-
plier for one of the premium
manufacturers of high speed
gates. The experience from
these tailor-made develop-
ments flowed into the prod-
uct TST LGB, which is now
freely available as a standard
product on the market and
will be presented at the R+T
for the first time in public.
