Spannend ist das Leben von Lift-
technikern und -ingenieuren. Jüngst
zu erleben in der Elbphilharmonie
in Hamburg. Als Angela Merkel zur
Eröffnung angereist war und bereits
die Bogenrolltreppe zum Konzertsaal
hinauffuhr, drückte ein Fotograf wohl
den Not-Aus-Knopf. Er hatte offenbar
keinen guten Blick mehr auf die Kanz-
lerin.Nun stand alles still: die Rolltreppe
mit den Fotografen und die mit der
Kanzlerin. Und unten an der Treppe
wartete Joachim Gauck und konnte
gar nicht rauffahren. Ein Megagau und
viel Aufregung für die Servicetechniker
von Kone vor Ort. Oder doch nicht? Im
Handumdrehen brachten die beiden
Experten die beiden Fahrtreppenwieder
in Gang, so dass der Festakt vor promi-
nentem Publikum beginnen konnte.
Eine lustige Geschichte ist das, die gera-
de zum 125. Geburtstag der Rolltreppe
passierte. Die modernste Fahrtreppen-
Version ist in Hamburg installiert, die
erste gab es 1895 in New York, das
erste Patent wurde 1892 auch in den
USA erteilt. Seitdem wurde die Tech-
nologie stets verbessert und verfeinert,
wir berichteten wiederholt. Auf dem
Schwelmer Symposium, mit dem das
LIFTjournal in diesem Jahr das erste

fascinating. Recently in the Elbe Philharmonic

photographer pressed the emergency stop
switch. He no longer had a good view of the
chancellor. Now everything was motionless:
The escalator with the photographer and
one with the chancellor. And at the bottom
of the escalator Joachim Gauck had to wait
and could not ascend. The worst case for the
Kone service technicians on the spot. Or was
it? In next to no time, the two experts had
got the escalators moving again so that the
ceremony could begin.
An amusing story that happened precisely
on the 125th anniversary of the escalator.The
most modern escalator version is installed in
Hamburg while the first was found in 1895
in New York; the first patent was also issued
in the USA. Since then, the technology has
undergone constant improvement and
refinement, as we repeatedly report.You can
