The idea of the project for
the biggest awning in the
world came from Olaf Vögele
from Kleffmann Publishing in
Bochum (Germany). Vögele
devoted himself tirelessly to
recruiting sponsors and tech-
nical support for the realisa-
tion of the project. Numerous
technical obstacles had to
be overcome particularly in
realising the outsize awning.
Here it was above all the door
manufacturer belutec from
Lingen (Germany), a specialist
for special structures, which
provided its installation team
and know-how.

first-year primary school pu-
pils, which had won first prize
in a painting competition. They
