LIFTjournal 2/2020

Over 7,500 visitors and 135 exhibitors from five countries attended the “International Elevator and Escalator Expo” (IEE) that took place at the end of February in Mumbai. Despite the relative decline in visitor and exhibitor numbers, the organisers were satisfied under the current circumstances. T o compare: at the IEE Expo 2018, there were still 8,400 exhibitors and 171 ex- hibiting companies from ten countries. Originally, the organisers had expected 200 exhibitors and 12,000 visitors for 2020. The exhibitors stressed that the cancellati- on by 22 percent of the exhibitors was due to the uncertainty on the market in view of the Corona crisis. “As organisers, we were satisfied that we succeeded in staging the exhibition under difficult conditions and, what is even more important, making our exhibitors very satisfied with the number of visitors and quality of the visitor flows.” MOST INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITORS FROM TURKEY The IEE Expo took place for the eighth time, with this being the second time under the aegis of the Messe Frankfurt. This time, most of the 135 exhibitors came from India. Normally, China would have provided the largest contingent of international exhibitors, but in view of the travel restrictions, it was Turkey this time. Germany, the Netherlands and Spain were also present. The IEE Expo 2020 provided a platform for obtaining an insight into the latest innovations in the vertical transport segment. In the exhi- bitors’ view, the wide spectrum of components exhibited was a highlight of the trade fair. LIVE DEMONSTRATIONS OF THE EXHIBITORS At the beginning of the trade fair, the exhibitors’ live demonstrations for example included tech- nologies such as solar ELOS (a kind of solar ge- nerators for lifts), hydraulic lifts for passengers and cargo, pneumatic vacuum lifts, intelligent operating panels with cloud connectivity and much more. Among others, the business visitors of the trade fair included OEM representatives, go- vernment employees from the infrastructure field and component subcontractors. Decision- makers from the procurement and technical departments of the OEMs visited the component manufacturers and subcontractors to find out more and obtain source technologies that are of assistance in the assembling the lifts required. USEFUL PARTNERSHIP In addition, the strategic partnership of the IEE Expo with CREDAI-MCHI attracted many proper- ty moguls. The “Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India” (CREDAI) is the top body for private property developers. The sub-association in Mumbai – MCHI (Maha- rashtra Chamber of Housing Industry) – is a sector platform whose members include more than 1,800 leading developers from Mumbai and the Mumbai metropolitan region (MMR). India is the second biggest market for lifts and escalators in the world. Its rapid urbanisation is one of the main factors driving the sector’s growth, according to the IEE Expo. The component market in the lift and esca- lator sector was under permanent pressure to develop innovations that permitted more fle- xible construction, higher speed and improved energy efficiency in lifts. “The current IEE Expo gave this segment of the sector just the impulse it needed by providing a lucrative platform for meeting its target audience for trade,” the organisers explained. The next IEE Expo is scheduled for 2022. ⇤ ieeexpo.com Weitere Informationen sowie Bestellmöglichkeit hier: www.prolift-aufzugnotruf.de/piktogramme Eine Marke von Telegärtner Elektronik GmbH Hofäckerstr. 18 74564 Crailsheim Tel. +49 7951 488-0 info@prolift-aufzugnotruf.de PIKTOGRAMME SIND BALD PFLICHT.
