(UTC) hat die Ernen- nung eines neuen Vorsitzenden und neuer Mit- glieder des „Board of Directors“ des Leitungs- und Kontrollgremiums von Otis bekanntgege- ben. Sie werden ihr Amt antreten, sobald die für dieses Jahr geplante Loslösung der Firma Otis von UTC abgeschlossen ist. Christopher Kearney, derzeit Mitglied des „Board of Directors“ von UTC, wird als Executive Chairman von Otis fungieren. Judy Marks, die zuvor zum President & Chief Executive Officer von Otis ernannt wurde, wird dem Vorstand beitreten, ebenso wie der derzeitige UTC-Direk- tor Terry McGraw. Dem neunköpfigen Vorstand werden auch die unabhängigen Mitglieder Jef- frey Black, Kathy Hopinkah Hannan, Shailesh Jejurikar, Margaret Preston, Shelley Stewart, Jr. und John Walker angehören. Der neue Vorstand, der nach Abschluss der geplanten Loslösung der Firma Otis von UTC in diesem Jahr sein Amt antreten wird, besteht aus Führungskräften verschiedener Unterneh- men aus den Bereichen Hightech-Produktion, Asset Management, Konsumgüter, Professional Services und Transportwesen. Sie alle haben bereits Unternehmen als CEOs, Präsidenten, Chief Operating Officers und Chief Financial Officers geführt. ⇤ otis.com United Technologies Corp. (UTC) has announced the appointments of an executive chairman and members of the board of directors for Otis. The new board becomes effective upon the com- pletion of Otis' planned separation from UTC in this year. Christopher Kearney, currently a member of the UTC Board of Directors, will serve as execu- tive chairman of Otis. Judy Marks, who was pre- viously appointed president & chief executive officer of Otis, will join the board as will current UTC director Terry McGraw. The nine-member board will also include independent directors Jeffrey Black, Kathy Hopinkah Hannan, Shailesh Jejurikar, Margaret Preston, Shelley Stewart, Jr. and John Walker. The new board, which becomes effective upon the completion of Otis' planned separa- tion from UTC in this year, is comprised of exe- cutives from a diverse range of companies in sectors including high-tech manufacturing, as- set management, consumer products, professi- onal services and transportation. They have led companies as CEOs, presidents, chief operating officers and chief financial officers. ⇤ otis.com In memoriam: Simha Lustig In Memoriam: Simha Lustig Am 7. Dezember 2019 verstarb der ehemalige Vorsitzende des „Israeli Elevator and Escala- tor Technical Committee”, Simha Lustig aus Tel Aviv, Israel, im Alter von 93 Jahren. Simha und seine Frau Rita, beide Überle- bende des Holocaust, immigrierten 1950 nach Israel, nachdem er sein Studium als Elektro- ingenieur an der Universität Bratislava in der Slowakei abgeschlossen hatte. Seine berufliche Laufbahn begann als er als junger Ingenieur in einem lokalen Aufzugsunternehmen. 1956 gründete er das erste Beratungsunter- nehmen für vertikalen Transport in Israel, die „ESL – Eng. S. Lustig Consulting Engineers“. Als Vorsitzender des „Israeli Elevator and Escalator Photo: © Ami Lustig Technical Committee” initiierte er die Erarbei- tung aller neuen israelischen Normen sowie die Anpassung vieler europäischer Normen. Simha Lustig war als langjähriger Vertreter Israels in der Arbeitsgruppe 6 des Technischen Ausschusses 178 der ISO und brachte sein Wis- sen und seine Erfahrung in die Entwicklung vieler neuer internationaler Normen und die Überarbeitung zahlreicher anderer ein. Seit 1986 war er als Länderkoordinator der Interna- tional Association of Elevator Engineers (IAEE) und aktives Mitglied vieler lokaler technischer Verbände und Ausschüsse tätig. Simha Lustig interlässt seine Kinder Ami, Du- bi und Hagit, sechs Enkel und sieben Urenkel. ⇤ On 7 December 2019 passed the former chair- man of the “Israeli Elevator and Escalator Tech- nical Committee”, Simha Lustig, Tel Aviv, Israel, aged 93. Simha and his wife Rita, both survivors of the Holocaust, immigrated to Israel in 1950, fol- lowing his graduation as an electrical engineer from the University of Bratislava in Slovakia. His professional career began when he joined a local elevator company as a young engineer. In 1956 he established the first vertical trans- portation consultancy in Israel, ESL - Eng. S. Lustig Consulting Engineers. As the chairman of the Israeli elevator and escalator technical committee, he instigated the creation of all new Israeli standards as well as the adaptation of many European ones. Simha was a longtime representative of Israel in Working Group 6 of ISO Technical Committee 178 and contributed his knowledge and expe- rience to the development of many new inter- national standards and the revision of several others. He was the country coordinator for the International Association of Elevator Engineers (IAEE) since 1986 and an active member of many local technical associations and committees.
